The Exploratorium

The Exploratorium is housed in a San Francisco landmark - the Palace of Fine Arts - and is dedicated to science, art, and human perception exhibits.

The museum was founded in 1969 by physicist and educator Dr. Frank Oppenheimer and attracts over half a million visitors every year. There are 650 original interactive exhibits, displays, and artworks that have been designed, prototyped, and built on site, with currently 400 on view. These exhibits include exploration into biology, physics, visual perception, listening, and memory.
