San Francisco City Hall
June 17th 2008 15:28
The San Francisco City Hall is an iconic landmark of the city and its sheer size - over 500,000 square feet or 46,000 square meters - and grand Beaux-Arts architecture is a sight to behold.
This historic building was opened in 1915 and boasts a stunning exterior of gray California granite with blue and gold burnished ironwork and an interior finished in California marble, Indiana limestone, and Eastern oak.
Often billed as the "finest public building in the world", Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe were married here in 1954. The City Hall is open to the public Monday through Friday and fully accessible to people with disabilities, including the addition of audible infrared signage for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
