Farewell My Concubine

January 7th 2008 03:30
Farewell My Concubine Opera

Farewell My Concubine is a famous love story set at the end of the Qin dynasty and revolves around Chinese warlord Xiang Yu and his beloved Yu Ji.

It has previously been made into a movie in chinese cinemas but for the first time ever, it has been presented with a 'Western-style' interpretation with songs sung in Mandarin with English subtitles. In this groundbreaking event, the opera foregoes the traditional "Beijing Opera" style for a classic Italian opera look and feel.
