Cinco de Mayo Festival 2008
April 29th 2008 01:30
San Francisco's annual Cinco De Mayo celebration is one of the City's most spectacular traditions! The festival showcases the very best of Mexican, Latin American and Chicano cultures with a diverse array of music, dance and artistry for the entire family to enjoy.
Cinco De Mayo, a national Mexican celebration, is observed to recognize one of the most triumphant victories of our Mexican ancestors. In 1862, Mexican soldiers and citizens of the city of Puebla halted a foreign invasion by French forces, one of the world's most powerful armies. The battle and victory represent a people's ability to succeed despite overwhelming obstacles.
